Calibration gas and test gas: Exact mixtures for gas detectors, analysers and gas sensors of all kinds.

Gas detectors can save lives: if there is an increased concentration of unwanted gas in an underground car park, for example, the little helpers signal danger. But for the devices to work reliably, they have to be calibrated regularly. The same applies to many analytical devices and gas sensors - these devices must undergo regular calibration to guarantee their proper operationg. Our calibration gases and test gases reliably help you with this!

As a DAkkS-accredited calibration laboratory and manufacturer of reference materials, our specialty gas centre supplies products that meet the highest requirements!

We either implement already concretely defined compositions (standard test gas mixtures) or we develop a new highly specific gas mixture together with you that perfectly fits your requirements. Choose from around 200 individual components and over 40,000 variants, depending on the measurand, measuring range, measuring condition or measuring uncertainty!

Quickly available: Standardised test gas mixtures from Westfalen for the calibration of your equipment.

We offer Westfalen's test gas mixtures with defined composition for routine applications as standard under short-term availability in our online shop. These gas mixtures are supplied in cylinders with up to 200 bar filling pressure. The calibration gases have a high accuracy and are suitable for analysis and measuring devices or instruments according to defined industry standards.

Westfalen uses two main methods to produce calibration gas mixtures: manometric and gravimetric filling. With a final analysis, we prove the perfect quality of the gas mixtures produced in this way. The results are documented in a certificate of analysis.

If traceability to international standards is necessary, e.g. due to legal requirements, the calibration gases can be supplied with a DAkkS calibration certificate. If you need the test gases as reference material, e.g. for the calibration of AU devices, we supply them according to DIN EN ISO 17034.

For the highest requirements: Customised calibration gas mixtures according to DAkkS accreditation.

The Westfalen Specialty Gases Centre has been accredited by the German Accreditation Body (DAkkS) since 2006 and thus provides proof of competence as a calibration laboratory in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025. The test results are shown in a certificate of analysis which, in addition to the measurement results, measurement uncertainties and measurement conditions, also lists the calibration procedure and the reference standard.

The accreditation as a calibration laboratory according to ISO 17025 authorises Westfalen to produce test gases with a DAkkS calibration certificate. In addition to readily available standard mixtures, individual mixtures are also produced according to customer specifications.

The traceability of measurement results of the analysis to international standards is a necessary criterion for reliable and comparable results.

Good to know:

DAkkS-compliant test gas with calibration certificate is analysed four times more frequently in the manufacturing process than a standard gas mixture. For the calibration, therefore, three reference gases were used instead of one. More safety is not possible!

Direct comparison: This is how our manufacturing processes differ for standard test gas and DAkkS test gas according to DIN EN ISO 17025.

Quality control check with the certificate of analysis.

The analysis of gas mixtures is carried out according to the specifications of DIN EN ISO 6143. The results are documented in a certificate of analysis according to DIN EN ISO 6141. The certificate contains all information on manufacturing accuracy, analytical accuracy and standard deviation.
As a calibration laboratory, Westfalen can thus prove the perfect quality of the gas mixtures produced in this way.

More about reference materials according to DIN EN ISO 17034.

Reference materials in the sense of DIN EN ISO 17034 are mixtures of substances with precisely defined composition, which are connected to the international system of units (SI) through complete metrological traceability and through defined measurement uncertainties. During the production of the mixtures, the proportion of each component is determined gravimetrically and verified analytically after the filling process. Reference materials for the calibration of measuring instruments are essential for the accuracy of results and as such are an indispensable part of chemical analysis.
