Commercial apprenticeships at Westfalen AG.

Planning, calculating, organising, communicating and sometimes presenting - that is the job of business people.

All this mostly together with colleagues, sometimes alone. If you like numbers, like to pull the strings and like to deal with people, then this is YOUR training.

Nina.

Will become an industrial clerk.
At Westfalen, she appreciates that most people are on first-name terms and likes that it feels like family here.

Luca.

Will become a freight forwarding and logistics services clerk.
He looks forward to every lunch break because that's when he meets all his trainee colleagues. And they often have breakfast together.

Patrizia.

Will be an industrial clerk.
She loves being in meetings and meeting new colleagues. And she likes to be greeted with a friendly hello wherever she goes at Westfalen.

Max.

Becomes an industrial clerk.
Finds it great that at Westfalen he works with products that are not exactly commonplace: Liquid gas, refrigerants, oxygen ...

"I like working for a company that everyone knows.

Everyone knows the Westfalen logo on propane bottles from barbecues alone. I always look forward to the moment when I can say: It's my employer!

Max

"We all got a mentor for the first time.

He or she is always available and you can ask anything. In the meantime, I'm also a mentor for a new trainee - I really enjoy it.

Patrizia

"Of course I was worried at the beginning that I was doing something wrong;

I guess I'm a bit of a perfectionist. But then my colleagues told me: "Mistakes are there to be made. That's the only way you learn something. We trainees are really taken by the hand by our experienced colleagues.

Nina

In the video, Nina, Patrizia, Luca and Max talk about their
training for commercial professions.

"One of my first tasks: I was supposed to write a manual for a new programme.

So that one can work according to these instructions without further explanation. I sat down and formulated it step by step. Everyone who is new to the programme is now working with it. It's a nice feeling."

Max

"My little entry project: I planned training dates for the colleagues.

For this, I created a presentation, then wrote down all the questions from the colleagues and explained them one by one. It worked very well and I got good feedback."

Patrizia

"In the morning, I first check my e-mails, then I go to the factory and see where the pallets are.

Then I get the folder with the truck tours; I sort them, check if everything fits and enter them into the system. There are a lot of drivers coming and going here and a lot of phone calls - I like that action.“

Luca

Towards the end of the training, the training manager sits down with each one of us.

We then discuss in which area we see ourselves, what we enjoyed most and what impression Westfalen has. Then we can work in this department again at the end.

"We apprentices go through many departments, we change every three months:

Accounting, marketing, human resources, internal sales and many more. It's great that we can get a taste of so many topics, because you first have to find out what suits you.“

Nina

"I think flexitime is great. We can start any time between 7 and 9 in the morning.

I'm usually there around 7am because I'm an early riser. Then I finish around 3:30 and have the rest of the afternoon to myself."

Patrizia

"A lot is done here for us apprentices.

We all get our own laptop and even a headset. This equipment really surprised me. And we can also work from home sometimes."

Luca

This is what you can look forward to:

Over 1,000 € training allowance.

37.5 hours per week.

30 days holiday.

Your own laptop.

Trainee ticket for bus and train.

Discount for fitness centres.
