How are liquid gas tanks installed?

LPG tanks can be installed both above ground and below ground, even on small plots of land. The above-ground installation is created on a concrete foundation slab. This variant is connected quickly and is very cost-effective. The underground installation takes place in a pit, only the so-called manhole cover remains visible. This option is somewhat more elaborate, but even more space-saving and visually appealing.

What are your obligations as the owner of a LPG tank?

As the owner of a liquid gas tank, you must ensure the safety of the tank, the pipelines and fittings as well as the surrounding area. This includes complying with fire and safety regulations as well as regular maintenance and inspection of the gas tank in accordance with legal regulations and relevant codes of practice. You are also responsible for monitoring the tank level to prevent empty tanks. A digital level measurement, for example, supports you in this.

Is a liquid gas tank subject to approval?

In principle, it is not necessary to submit a building application for a LPG tank if the tank has a filling volume of 2.9 tonnes or less. This regulation applies throughout Germany for all federal states. However, the installation work must be carried out by qualified personnel. Acceptance documentation is required for commissioning.
