Our product portfolio ranges from conventional industrial gases to gas qualities whose minor components are in the ppm (parts per million) range. We meet these highest demands with our production at the Hörstel Specialty Gases Centre. There, we produce ultra-pure gases up to 99.9999 percent purity by volume, i.e. 6.0 quality.
Gas units are often represented in dot notation - a shortened form of the percentage. Here, the digit before the dot determines the number of "nines". The digit after the dot is the first number that differs from nine.

Westfalen has always attached great importance to quality assurance. In the production of gases, Westfalen has been certified for Quality management in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001 since 1992. We are convinced that we can only optimally fulfil our customers' wishes if the quality is right from procurement to production to distribution - in other words, from start to finish. Furthermore, our environmental management system is certified according to ISO 14001 and our energy management according to ISO 50001. We are also particularly proud of our gold medal in the EcoVadis sustainability ranking.
Westfalen's Specialty Gases Centre in Hörstel, Westphalia, has DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation from the German Accreditation Body (DAkkS) as a calibration laboratory and DIN EN ISO 17034 accreditation as a manufacturer of certified reference materials. The Specialty Gases Centre has thus provided proof of competence at a high national and international level. The traceability of the results to international standards is thus ensured.
As a manufacturer and distributor of medicinal products and medical devices, we set ourselves particularly high standards for their safety and reliability. In addition to the required manufacturing authorisation, we are inspected by the competent authorities at regular intervals. Furthermore, with certification according to EN ISO 13485, we create the prerequisite for the manufacture of medical devices.
In order to exclude possible hazards for people and the environment, we evaluate our products in defined processes. In addition to the legally compliant labelling of our products, we provide our customers and partners with essential information on the safe transport, use and storage of our products. We supplement this offer with regular seminars and training courses.
