LNG filling stations - Westfalen AG (PLC)

Four-pack between Herford and Cologne. LNG locations of Westfalen.

LNG filling stations: The network expansion is progressing.

LNG is a viable fuel for the future that will make heavy-duty transport more efficient and lower in emissions. But in order to reap the benefits of LNG, a well-developed LNG filling station network throughout Europe is of great importance. The prospects are good: DENA assumes that by 2025 there will be around 200 LNG filling stations in Germany alone to ensure nationwide supply.

Westfalen LNG filling stations: Our locations at a glance.

Our goal is to make heavy goods transport more efficient and environmentally friendly and thus contribute to reducing CO2 emissions.

Together with fleet operators, freight forwarders, logistics companies, local politicians and economic development agencies, we are therefore working at full speed to further expand the necessary LNG infrastructure throughout Germany. At heavily frequented transport axes and important hubs.

We currently operate four LNG filling stations in Germany. Further locations are being planned.

If you have a petrol station location request, please let us know. We will then check the possibilities.

Where can I find Westfalen's LNG filling stations?

The first Westfalen filling station for LNG was opened in Münster Amelsbüren as early as 2020. Today, you can also conveniently fill up with LNG at the Herford, Herne and Cologne locations. In addition to an LNG filling station in Kerpen, further LNG locations are currently being planned.

All Westfalen LNG locations are in operation 24/7. As central contact points, they combine alternative drive energies with a wide range of sustainable products and services: A truck wash facility awaits you in Münster and Herford respectively, while there is a bistro at all locations and an additional Burger King in Cologne.

FAQ: Any questions? Westfalen answers!

How many Westfalen LNG filling stations are there in Germany?

With the locations Münster, Herford, Herne and Cologne, there are currently four Westfalen LNG filling stations in Germany that are in operation 24/7 for heavy goods traffic. In addition to a filling station in Kerpen, further LNG sites are currently being planned.

How do LNG filling stations differ from other filling stations?

The crucial difference is that cryogenic liquefied natural gas is refuelled here instead of conventional fuel. Since this is cooled down to about -162 °C and is highly flammable, you must be instructed for the refuelling process, wear protective equipment when refuelling and follow a set set of instructions at the pump.

How long does the refuelling process take?

With all the necessary steps, the LNG refuelling process takes about 10 minutes, which is only slightly longer than is the case with conventional fuels such as diesel.

What do I have to consider when refuelling with liquefied natural gas (LNG)?

After a mandatory briefing and the donning of protective clothing, you must follow set steps for LNG refuelling that are designed for safety and adapted to the extremely cold fuel. Learn more here.
